Ice race, that is. Some guys use brand new cars that are expensive to fix when something happens. I use cars that are free because they’re not wanted.

This is the Tohru Special, a rusty 1990 Geo Prism with 224k, the 4AFE and an automatic, and black overspray everywhere courtesy of the previous owner.

Since it’s black, I’m going to do the numbers and some sponsors in gold ala John Player Special. It also is getting an oil change, as the oil matches the paint.

I’m still mad at you for not running the Admiral Yi.

That story ended pretty funny though. The folks who bought it blew out a brake line on the test drive, and agreed to buy it and try to drive it back to Milwaukee - a 100 mile drive.

Where do you race? I’m in Wisconsin as well and wondering where I can get some ice racing or ice autrocross on.

Buffalo Lake, in Marquette County. In our racing league there is contact, so you don’t want to use anything nice. If you're looking for ice Autocross I know Lake Dubay up in Mosinee does it. There's another Lake near Oshkosh that does it too.

I’ve come across a couple sites that list the autocross at Mlwaukee Mile but none of these smaller events. Is there a Facebook group or anything that lists these or is it mostly word of mouth?

I’ve only found out about this through word of mouth. I’m friends with a Chicago Oppo on Facebook who told me about those two. I’ll link him this so he can give more info.

I know Road America does a winter autocross too.

Check out Central Wisconsin Sports Car Club , Fox Valley Sports Car Club , Wisconsin Autosports Group , and Sports Car Club of LaCrosse on Facebook. They all run winter rallyx, which is just autocross on a frozen lake, and it is some of the most fun you will ever have in a car.

One of the best shots of me from this year:

I believe CWSCC is running an event this Saturday. I’ll be in Nashville though.

Awesome, thanks! I definitely want to do this, my winter car is FWD so I’m not sure if it will be as much fun, but it still looks like a blast. Plus it gives me an excuse to buy a helmet.

This weekend is all work changes, I’ll check out the schedules.

Sounds like an excellent ice racing car to me!

Have fun!
